I'm sorry I can't join your discussion about the merits of Ozzie footy. I can't even stand American Football. LOL It seems so boring to me, all those big guys running around after a little ball, and they take it so seriously too.

Well no intention to offend anyone with that comment. LOL Sports is one of the worlds greatest pastimes. I am glad that you have that to enjoy. Those are things which make life good.

One of my things is collecting. I collect Zaphir figurines. Most people would probably find that boring. LOL

Hi Juls ! ((((((( hugx)))))))
What are Zaphir figurines ?
Pardon my ignorance , but I have never heard of them

Juls 11-10-2003 02:36 PM

Go on e-bay and do a search for Zaphir. There are two listed now. They are porcelain/ceramic figurines made by a company in Spain. The Zaphir company was taken over by another company called Lladro. Many more people are familiar with Lladro then Zaphir. The figurines are extremely similar. However, they are more affordable then the Lladros, although the two pieces on e-bay now are quite expensive.

Ah! I know Lladro, and I think they are absolutely beautiful! I often drool around Lladro in shops

Aren't they exquisite ?

To the Australians

I am planning a trip for Christmas 2004 to Australia. It´s a dream of mine, and I´m going with two girlfriends. We will visit Sidney, go to the Ayers rock and visit all the fascinating sites in this magnificent country. I want to see kangoroos and all the animals Australia is famous for, and the mysterious spots.

Any tips for unconventional tourists?

No, silly is good :)

It's not rainy here all of the time, we do have 40+ days throughout Summer... followed by thunderstorms the very same night of course.

Hehe, I didn't really sleep well. Lay in bed awake until around 2:30am last night, and was awoken at 8am this morning. My silly body doesn't understand that it's supposed to sleep through the night and not the day.

I know it's stupid, but I really am too scared to go to a doctor, especially being unsure about costs, not having a medicare card.

Anyway, enough with footy, does anyone follow the cricket? I was watching on TV as Matthew Hayden broke the test runs record.

Juls 11-10-2003 06:48 PM

Katey,

I can empathize with your fear of Dr.s, and also concerns for cost. But believe me Katey when I say that getting on the proper medication for depression, if that is what's needed, is so much better and safer than self-medicating with drugs. You are in danger of accidentally killing yourself, and are also causing damage to your body. Difficulty sleeping is common amongst people who are suffering from depression.

At least try to look into what might be available for you o.k.?

As far as cricket goes, I don't know much about it. Is it something you play with a net, like badminton?

Juls

Justme57 11-10-2003 06:53 PM

The WHAT? Katey ! ha Ha ! Must admit , I HAVE heard of it before , but don't know much about it , except they seem to have a habit of rubbing their groins a lot ! Ha Ha

Lilya ! you are going WHERE? Sydney ! OMG! No, seriously , if you plan on going to Ayres rock, are you going on a tour thing , or by yourselves ?

Katey , Kath might know more about the cricket , I am sure they played it before they stole our Footy !lol

I think Drs visit costs about $50 , but there are some places that bulk bill, oh! sorry , forgot you don't have a Medicare card ! How come ? can you get one ?

Katey 11-10-2003 07:01 PM

I don't have my own card, and can't get one. Doesn't matter. However I can very easily get presciption medicine illegally, but I guess then I don't know if I'm taking the right thing. Are there any doctors you can go to that bulk bill that don't require you to have a medicare card? At all?

Juls, I really hope you're kidding about Cricket :)

Justme57 11-10-2003 08:03 PM

Katey , PLEASE do not self medicate if you have been diagmosed Bi Polar ! It is very dangerous .

I think you need a medicare card to go to bulk billing , if you have a joint card with someone else , you can apply for an idividual one , that is not a problem.

If all else fails , take yourself to an A&E and explain the symptoms to them, it is VERY important that you get the correct medication!

My other suggestion would be , to go to your local community centre and see a health worker there , would be a good starting point , they can point you in the right direction

Hope some of this helps , BUT whatever you do, DO not self medicate g/f

LUV ya

Lee,

How does your healtcare work up in Oz?

Katey, I'm not kidding about the cricket. Is it like Polo? You hit something with a stick while your on a horse?

Juls

Katey 11-10-2003 08:36 PM

I have not got Bi Polar, (I don't even know what it is to be honest). What is an A&E?

Cricket is nothing like polo, although you do hit a ball with a stick. It's similar to baseball, although instead of having bases you run between two wickets.

Justme57 11-10-2003 09:10 PM

I am so sorry Katey , I should have gone back to your very first post before I typed , but still, love , self medicating is very dangerous . A&E is Emergency in any hospital, just front up, and you can see a Doc , and perhaps get a referral.

My apologies Katey .

Juls : Our health system is partly subsidised by the government , for what we call, " Public health care " We have government issued medicare cards , and when we present them , at a consultation with a doc , we pay " the gap" which is the difference between the " scheduled fee" and the subsidy paid to the doctor by the government . We also have private Health Insurance, which is a personal choice , which can be purchased , and this covers many specialists fees , as well as regular GP consults , also private hospital fees

Are there many people who don't have any coverage?

Juls

Justme57 11-10-2003 11:32 PM

Hi again juls ,
Quite a few people chose not to pay private cover , but to be honest , the care in the Public System is just as good , you may not get the single room, and the daily visits by your specialist , but you get really good care . medicare cards are issued to everyone , by the government , so everyone has acess to Public health
