Day 1

New thread- day 1. Threw away a huge expensive bag of it last night. Last few days I just smoked and ate and slept all day over and over. Felt wasted and unsatisfied and useless.
Prior to that I moderated sort of for a week- few days on and few days off. But ultimately I have to go 100% so here I go again. Day one is all aout the jonsing but at last I am functional.

Hi Windy! I'm glad you're here. I'm on day 18 and feel better every day, even though I have a long way to go. I totally feel you on the eating/sleeping/useless thing. It's amazing how we let it consume our lives and how miserable it makes us feel.
Anything in particular you feel like talking about? It's rainy here and i'm building some electronics so i'll be around the computer to help you through some of Day 1. Any plans? I know how scatterbrained you probably feel :(

Windytown4 08-05-2017 12:31 PM

Thanks! Congrats on day 18. you are right it does get better and better. When I did 7 months sober this year by the end I barely thought of it and was like0 it is so easy to quit! It is just these early weeks that it is hard.

mm1741 08-05-2017 12:37 PM

Have you told anyone you are quitting? Did you get rid of your smoking devices/implements? Those two were really important for me.

teodor 08-05-2017 02:03 PM

This is the best decision you can take, Windy!
I am sure you don't want to waste anymore days of your life feeling the way you did.

You've already stopped! Now you just have to go trough those tough first week or two and you'll have the gift of sobriety again. Remember how good it felt ? It is amazing - actually - that is the best high you can have - getting high on life rather on pot.

Wish you good luck my friend!
Take care! :You_Rock_

We're here to encourage you, Windy. You've made a great choice - the drinking life leaves us empty and miserable. You can do it.

Windytown4 08-05-2017 04:33 PM

I am proud of you too Teo!! Thanks for reminding me of the sober high- I have this infinite craving in me to get high, to feel high, to feel elated. And I forget that I actually eventually feel much higher and better sober--- I have to ride out the cravings- I feel so low when I smoke. Such a weird thing. 30 years now of smoking .

mm1741 08-05-2017 04:47 PM

I agree Windy, it is amazing how we can be so anxious to smoke and feel like it's the only way to feel pleasure, and then equally amazing how low it makes us feel when we're actually stoned.

Hevyn 08-05-2017 06:05 PM

Sorry, Windy - I forgot it's pot that's your issue, & I mentioned drinking. :)

mm1741 08-06-2017 03:28 AM

Hi Windy! How are you feeling?

SobrietyIsKey70 08-21-2017 09:17 PM

i have been clean of smoking for 8 months now.
after smoking everyday for about 12 years.

i feel so much better & more productive, i did have to deal with my anxiety another way but figured it out. i only had cravings for the first couple weeks but i would just do things to take my mind off of it. now i don't even think of it.

i did throw my whole stash away and all devices when i first decided to come clean

welcome to the forum sobrietyiskey :)

Windy - how are you going?

Hi SobrietyIsKey :)

How did you deal with your anxiety? I've been weed free for 21 days today and the anxiety is the hardest part for me. I was having daily panic attacks after I quit, i'd never had them before. And the worst part was the constant surreal feeling that was making me freak out even more. It is lifting now, but I still experience it at some point everyday. Did you get that surreal feeling? I think it might be exacerbated by the anxiety. If so, when did it finally go away completely? I'm on FMLA leave, it was that bad. I've been doing breathing techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, listening to music created for relaxation, seeing my therapist.

Also, 8 months is awesome! That's so encouraging. I am so looking forward to being there.

Windy, where are you ??? We miss you . Its OK if you've slipped back - we've all done that at some time - me, many times, but the key is to stay connected and reach out again. You and teodor need to come and at least check in - we're here for you!

Dee74 09-17-2017 07:33 PM

HC is right guys :)

Checking in ... lasted more than a month without pot, then some things happened and I smoked more than later on some more and etc, was on and off.

Just smoked what I had left and going back to not smoking at all.
Thank you!

Dee74 09-25-2017 05:29 PM

good to have you back Teodor :)
