Grateful to be at work. Wearing clean clothes. With no hangover.

Grateful to not having to spend this day with the torment of having failed myself again.

Grateful that later on tonight, I get to go home and flop on my made bed, read a book and watch tv with my well-fed cats instead of of sitting in a bar trying to chase away the feeling that I'm doing something I shouldn't be, that I'm risking everything, that I'm out of control, that I'm betraying myself. Then driving 40 minutes home drunk and hoping I don't get arrested or kill someone.

backbeat,

I am grateful for the same things. Looking back I did a lot of stupid things and I am very lucky that I did not kill myself or worse someone else. For all those years, I let myself and the people around me down because of my devotion to alcohol. Well, it's never too late to change and I am very grateful for the chance to stay away from booze and live responsibly.

Grateful on the morning of my 55th birthday to be surrounded by loved ones (daughter even flew in last night from east coast!), my wonderful seven doggies ( one even shares my birthday - Phoebe is 10 ), my husband who is my best friend bought me not one...but two birthday cakes!!!! Oh and one teeny tiny shallow thing I'm grateful for......he surprised me with an I Pad:)

Sobriety is a gift beyond measure....it makes all the things I'm grateful for possible. Love to all my SR friends:)
