You know how you can tell that Al-anon works?
 

I have only been to 3 meetings but last night I made this observation....the new people look old for their age, tired and just worn down. Their hearts are broken and their spirits are crushed.

The active members have a sparkle in their eye and peaceful aura. They have a bright smile on their face and know how to laugh.

Just an observation I have made! And I can't wait for Monday's meetings! :a122:

That's what I saw my first meeting too, people who had problems bigger than mine, who were calm and happy and filled with peace. I wanted what they had.

Glad you enjoyed the meeting, this is the beginning of a happier way to live for you.

It took me 3 meetings to observe it though. Maybe because I sat and cried through the whole first 2 meetings. lol

What's even sadder (or such a blessing) the group at my first meeting chipped in and bought me the Al-anon book, then people hung around to hug me and comfort me...sharing there stories of pain as inspiration.

Someday, I hope, scratch that, I know I will be able to give back the blessings I received that night. Amazing people!!

You've just nailed what it's all about. And that peace can't be faked. It is genuine. Keep going back.....it really does work if you work it.
