All we can do is have faith. Often there are turn-arounds. It is your turn to sleep peacefully at night knowing your son is recoverying. We worry ourselves sick when our kids are addicts...but life involves change and many times it is a move toward recovery and a better relationship with us. The key for us is to just keep the faith. Whew-ee yippee for your son to be in a healthy place today. |
As all of you know, there is always a lot of healing on both sides of the fence to be done. My hope is that our son can not only build on his own sobriety but that he can be able to someday rebuild a trustful relationship with his brother and sister. I'm staying out of anything that reeks of getting involved in his and their healing process:) Here's what clued me in to that he sees his problem as big as it has been: he referred to himself as your recovering addict son on the phone, NEVER THOUGHT I'D HEAR THOSE WORDS EVER this time last year.............. Bets, I am so happy for both of you. This is huge. Your son sounds like he's working an a lot of positive things. I bet he is feeling pretty darn good about himself for all his efforts. I imagine he is also seeing just how good life can be when clean. Sending prayers that he continues his journey toward recovery. |
