Short and sweet update

Hey guys:

Well, it's still early days for our son, but this weekend marked 2 months of total sobriety for him.

He's liking the halfway house, and just last week told me he is truly 'getting' why we
asked him not to come back to our home with little recovery under his belt.

He's sounding good, I hear some confidence in himself coming back. He has even been calling his dad for no reason other than to say hi.....................a first in years. I just keep telling him that every day sober and clean is a success and keep it up!! He is now working on obtaining his driver's license in conjunction with the halfway house and goes to meetings every day for the moment.

I'm happy for him.................................I'm not stupid and don't think that his road won't have bumps, but this is the first time in 7 years I've had real hope for his recovery..............

Love,
Bets

I'm doing the happy dance for you, Bets, that's wonderful news.

Your son is in my prayers each night and tonight I'll remember to add a "thank You".

Bets, this is great news. I think every day sober is a day closer to sanity. So glad he gets that letting him back wasn't good for any of you. Enjoy each precious moment...I know you do; I can hear the gratitude in your post. Hugs and continued prayers

Hey Bets,
My son is also at a recovery house and seems to be doing well so far. It's only been a week though so I'm not jumping up and down yet. But at least he is there and not begging to come home. I think it is a start. I'm glad your son is making such good progress. Maybe mine will be there in a few months.

Bets -

I feel really happy hearing about your news. It's important for us all to realize that there is progress that is made and you and your son are shining examples!

My RAH was in and out of treatment for a long time before he pulled together some clean time. He has told me that everything he learned along the way (even when he went back out, didn't do the next right thing, etc) helped him when it all came together. Until a person gets that this is really causing them a problem it's difficult for them to move forward. It sounds like his brain is in the healing mode and can recognize what's happening!

Big smiles to ya'll - Donna
