Susie have you considered trying a different therapist?

Oh RHSusie, we've been around for awhile here, yes?

Notice the words in your quotes I put in bold?

One of the greatest roadblocks to recovery in codependency for me was being alone. I had never been alone for long, and I was scared to death.

It took me lots of hard work and support from friends who were already in recovery for me to get there.

I'm so sorry about your back, hon. Anymore I get epidurals in my lower back every 4-6 months.

Sending you lots of hugs from the midwest!

I am alone now, too, Susie. My husband died last October. I don't believe I will ever get married again or be in any sort of romantic relationship again. I have been alone in my life before, but somehow...it feels different this time. Maybe because I am older.

So I'm learning to deal with "alone" in a different way now, too. I am fortunate in one regard...I have great friends through my church and very kind neighbors to keep an eye out and include me in some of their activities.

So how about you, Susie? Do you have interests outside of work? Do you read? Enjoy music? Paint or sculpt? Garden? Scrapbook? What do you enjoy in your off-work hours? If you have never thought about it, perhaps there is something that peaks your interest and perhaps there is a club or group that meets regularly around that interest. That may be a great way to meet new and positive people in your life. Once my work allows, it is certainly something I'm going to pursue!!

You are worth investing time and effort into yourself!!

Yes what Seren said - you are very WORTHY of investing. In kind ways, not with raging, angry, disrespectful alcoholics who abuse you.
