At last but not there So my ABF should be commencing his home detox (medically assisted) in 2weeks. But he expects me to help for the 72hrs - have had to book annual leave as well find boarders for my guide dog. I messaged his Mum about helping out but she hasn't replied. Seeing detox nurse Tuesday so hoping they take a thorough history as he had a complicated detox with seizures last year.. I am going to tell her my concerns. I love hom ad a person just hate this - I actually want him to have a fit so he can get help. |
How does he expect you to "help" while he's in detox? That makes no sense. The medical professionals will be taking care of him. I'm not even certain they would allow you to be there--many detoxes don't allow visitors. Have you checked with the facility? |
It's been done at home. So nurse comings in 4 times a day. So I am left to support him - needs 72hr supervision.. Scared and pissed off due to the fact he expects me to do it all. |
If you're staying home, why do you need to board your guide dog?? |

Boarding my girl is for safety & in case of hospitalisation. He is scared that it be different surroundings leading to further confusion (poor awareness of sightless). He fell in hospital last year. He will still have a fit & end in hospital.. But quackery is taking him.. I don't know how to tell him I am not okay.. |
you could just speak your truth and say I am not comfortable with this, my own health is not sufficiently stable nor do i feel qualified to look after someone in your condition. Its ok to stand up for yourself and say NO. you aren't his nursemaid. |
I may still be confused here, am I understanding you are boarding the dog for its safety? Perhaps you should be considering your own safety into this equation? You have EVERY right to tell him you are not ok with these arrangements, and he is going to need to seek additional help. You should not have to own this. |
Thank you :) needed some reassurance. I also want to be safe, I will speak to detox nurse Tuesday about my concerns. He is a nice guy but his selfishness it's killing us! |
nah, REAL nice guys don't put this crap on their partners............ |

NOTE there are a number of low cast or even free fundraising sites for emergency needs like medical costs. redbasket.org youcaring.com also gofundme , modestneeds.org etc. |
