Early recovery Hey, My wife is 8 months sober and clean also she's off the smokes! It is really crasy, last week she was moving out with the kids this week we were perfectly happy, today she's mad again!! Just wondering if it stays like this or gets better? Also she is attending her meetings and I'm attending alanon. God all mighty it's rough! |
How long ago did she quit smoking? When I stopped drinking in 1991 I felt down, depressed. When I quit smoking a year later I felt insane for months, like I could kill someone and it didn't matter who. Does she have a program, going to a therapist? |
Hi Dugie I am glad for both of you that you have made healthy choices. It will be worth the turmoil in the long run. Hang in there!!! |
Attending meetings, being sober and gaining awareness are great places to start. Congratulations to you each on the progress you're making. Do either of you have sponsors & are you working the steps? I've just started on the book "Paths to Recovery, Alanon's Steps, Traditions, and Concepts", which was recommended by my sponsor. At the end of each chapter are questions I'll answer and go over with my sponsor. Good luck and good wishes to you and your wife. :) You may want to educate yourself about Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). Dugie, I am sorry, but it could be worse. Detach from her crazyness, walk away, leave the house or the neighborhood!! Go and read some of the forums about addicts and you might find some compassion for her. Sorry for your pain, but it would hurt more if she was drinking!! (((hugs))) |
