He's dead :(

Hi everyone!

I haven't been on SR in a really long time, I've been busy, moving on with my life...

Found out today through a mutual acquaintance that axbf died of a gastric hemorrhage. I haven't talked to him much since we broke up but I don't believe he ever stopped drinking. He was only 49, such a young age to die.

I can hardly believe it, I don't know what to feel. He treated me quite badly in the end but I'm sad for his family and sad for this stupid disease that claims the lives of so many.

Hi Ziggy, I read through your last two posts. Last time you mentioned seeing him, he was going into a liquor store?

It's so sad. We see the alcoholic as the one suffering, but they are also numbing. So they pass the pain on to their sober loved ones.

I's so sorry, Ziggy. It is good that you've moved forward in your life. I hope you've been doing well. Take extra good care of yourself.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.

I am definitely sad today and I am noticing some lingering anger too. Strangely enough I am feeling some sense of closure as I see his life was not destined to get any better and nothing I could have done would have made him stop drinking. I hope I can find an appropriate way to say good-bye. The monster of alcoholism is such a senseless beast. :(

hopeful4 03-04-2014 07:17 AM

You are right, it is senseless. I can understand the anger, and the closure. It is so sad that some people never ever realize that alcoholism is a life threatening disease. So many times they never realize it or when they do it's too late.

You did not cause it, and you are right, there is nothing you could have done.

I send you big hugs and hope you contine to move forward and have closure.

God Bless!
