Songs for us in Alanon There are many songs for alcoholics and addicts...but what about us in Alanon and Naranon....these three songs are haunting.. thinking of our addicted wives, husbands, sons, and daughters. Please add Oh Where Oh Where Is Love? - The Kinks - YouTube She's Leaving Home- The Beatles - YouTube Emmylou Harris - Long May You Run - YouTube |
Somebody else here mentioned Anna Nalick's Breathe a while back. Beautiful, and fitting. Also, drive by Incubus is one that speaks to me. |
I always think of the Eagle's Hotel California. To me - it just resonates with my experience with addictions, from my perspective as well as an addict's perspective. |
For me it was Blind Faith, "Can't find my way home". I played that song over and over. Another was CruxShadows, "Winterborn". Your friend, |

A couple more about addicted mothers and recovering sons and daughters Blue October - Hate Me - YouTube Rilo Kiley - A Better Son/Daughter - YouTube |
This was my song when I arrived in al-anon. Joan Jett - I Hate Myself For Loving You (Music Video) WIDESCREEN 720p - YouTube Later on, as I untangled myself from all my codie confusion this song gave me a much more positive outlook. Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name - YouTube When I finally "got it", and my life became wonderful again, this was my song. 19 Better Now - Collective Soul with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra - YouTube No more depressing songs for me :) Mike :) |

My song was Calvin Harris - Sweet Nothing ft. Florence Welch - YouTube and one I have been listening to lately Self Esteem - The Offspring - YouTube I also used Hate Me =), I saw blue october life a few weeks ago. |

Another good song from Flo (also from the Ceremonials album) is "No Light, No Light." |
Katatonia - The Promise of Deceit. I'm not allowed to post links yet. |
I thought about this more last night and ended up with a pretty nice concert in my head (but little sleep). Ifwe want to encompass codependency as a whole, then pretty much anything by Lana del Rey. Especially "Off to the Races and Born to Die. Then there's the original "Love the Way You Lie" by Skyler Gray. Not that crap Rihanna and Eminem released. I'm on my phone, so if someone could find a link, that'd be great. :) |
I managed to get on my laptop for a minute. Found the video for "Love the Way You Lie." "Love The Way You Lie" by Skylar Grey from a hotel room with a piano | Skylar Grey - YouTube |
Fix you... by Cold Play I can't ever get through it without balling! |
Thank you everybody...I am in a music haze right now. Painful but wonderful therapy. |
