My son died
 

My 27 year old son died 2 weeks ago of alcoholic liver disease and I am not coping. I have been a lurker on these boards for a long long time but never registered until today. My heart is breaking and I want him back, I want to pick up the phone and talk to him and I want to wake from this nightmare.

What a tragedy. I am so sorry this has happened to you and your Family. I couldnt even begin to understand the pain you are feeling. Take care of yourself.

My heart hurts for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You were right to register and post here. You will get the support you need, and a place to just get it all out. Ramble on when you need to, look for support when you need to, cry when you need to, just keep coming back.

I wish you peace in your life. I hope you have a good support system where you live?? It's not too late to go to Alanon as you must still have alot of feelings that have to come out.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I am sure I will eventually take up the invitation to "ramble on". I have been trying to be too strong/brave over the last couple of weeks but today I have been in tears all day and I am feeling so low. It is really comforting knowing that there are people here who understand - thank you all so much just for being there xx

SoHurt, I agree with what hopeful4 said above: I recommend Al-Anon. There you will find real, live, caring people who can provide you with an incredible amount of understanding and support during this time. At Al-Anon you will likely meet people who have experienced exactly what you are experiencing right now, who can provide a real strength to lean on.

I am terribly sorry for your pain. I am saying prayers for you that you find comfort, peace, and strength when you need it most.

Hi Sohurt, My heart breaks for you. Its a horrible way to loose a child and the greiving process has to be the hardest. Its early on so you go right ahead and hurt, miss him and get all those tears out. But realize one thing~~there was probably nothing you could have done to change a thing. There have been many posts lately from moms that have lost a loved one so stick around and you will get alot of support....Hugs to you, Bonnie

27 years old -- so very young. My heart breaks for you but I'm glad you've posted. Perhaps in sharing your pain and loss you may inspire other young ones who are struggling to get sober.

I've never been in your situation, but I think it is a good thing you're been crying today. You're relasing some of your pain. I guess all kind of days, the ones in which you're be more or less brave stand in front of you, and I wish you strenght through this hardship.
I hope you'll keep writing your sadness, your pain, your anger here for us, and we'll do our best to help you get through it.
