The 2016 Sober Thanksgiving Pact!!

**Chime in if you commit to sobriety this holiday week. Whether you're on day 1 or have 20 years, lets hear about it!**

This is my favorite holiday of the year for me. I am off work all week, too. Got some last minute garden projects to wrap up, then work on my bike, plus got some DVD's to watch.

Drinking will only get in the way of that. This will be my first major holiday sober. If I can get through this I can survive anything!

PhoenixJ 11-19-2016 06:08 AM

Well don't celebrate t-g here in down there land. I will however commit to the spirit of your excellent holiday and sobriety.

ScottFromWI 11-19-2016 06:40 AM

Count me in Steve, I'm thankful for my sobriety and there's lots of other ways to celebrate the holiday. Good luck on your outdoor projects, we got our first snow today here.

We're due for our first snow fall this evening & overnight. Nothing beyond a dusting, but snow none the less.

We got a light dusting of snow this morning.

This will be my 8th consecutive sober Turkey Day. I used to really ramp up my drinking during the holidays and I was a heavy drinker the rest of the year, so you can imagine what "ramping up" was like! I'm much happier sober:)

I'm in!, turkey day is great sober, food, more food, football and family!! Throw in a little cat nap in the mix!!

Enjoy your day!!!

Sign me up. Day one again. So tired of the hell that is alcoholism.

Gonnachange 11-19-2016 02:34 PM

I'm with you.

I'm committed, not even a hesitation. This will be an odd Thanksgiving. My family only lives a couple miles away, but my wife and I will be having Thanksgiving by ourselves...by choice.

Acheleus 11-19-2016 03:56 PM

I will be sober and studying all week.

PhoenixJ 11-19-2016 04:28 PM

Well not through choice but my a-disease will not be with family. So instead of getting into a miserable dramatic frenzy of self pity- might actually an thinking to buy some decorations - for me.

Dee74 11-19-2016 04:47 PM

No Thanksgiving here either but I'll be sober throughout the week :)

I have gotten drunk every Thanksgiving since 1989.

I quit drinking for 4 months in 2013 and actually started up again right before Thanksgiving 2013.

Other than those 4 months I have basically been drunk everyday the last 27 years.

I quit drinking a month ago and I don't even crave it or miss it at all; I hit rock bottom and I am now on my way up.

So this will be my first sober Thanksgiving since 1988.

Wow, good for you! This will be my first one sober in many years. Not sure I care to know exactly how many years, though!

Simplicity4114 11-19-2016 05:01 PM

Count me in! Sober Turkey Day in my part of PA!

STDragon 11-19-2016 05:46 PM

We have our Thanksgivings north of the 49th in October. That way we get the biggest birds first! ;^>

But I'll still join you in that pact.

Sign me up :-)

I remember my first sober Thanksgiving, five years ago. I ate like I hadn't since I was a sixteen year old athlete. It's been so nice to go to Thanksgiving without feeling half sick and looking for a drink!Count me in forever!

Delilah1 11-20-2016 11:08 AM

I'm in for a sober Thanksgiving. I will be trading my wine calories for some extra stuffing. I could easily skip the entire meal and just eat stuffing and cranberry sauce.

I am also one of the lucky ones who has this week off!

Let the holiday season begin!!!
