Glad you went for ice cream instead.

One drink doesn't even begin to touch it anyway--just stirs up the dragon. . .

People like us don't ever have just one and are happy about it.

heres a reply I had in another thread:

"I'm bored" or that there's "nothing to do" in early sobriety"

Oooohhh I had them words a time or 100 early on.
got called out on it.
" youre not bored. youre lazy and self centered. theres a million things to do. you just wanna do what you wannna do."

THIS.

They say it's the thinking that leads up to the drink that is the problem and the actual relapse.

Being bored is not a good reason (if any reason is) to throw away your sobriety. There are many things to do if bored. Trust me, boredom is one of my issues, too. Read, walk, GO TO A MTG, put yourself to bed early, call a friend (sponsor?), cook, go throw darts or bowling or whatever, go....

Just don't drink. That way, you won't find out what happens afterwards.

being bored is a really good reason to find out about yourself, about what kinds of things you like to do by going and trying a bunch of different things.

would one drink hurt?
not if you're the person who can just have one, with a few sips left in the glass, and then happily go get engaged in something else without giving it another thought.
i'm not that person.
doesn't sound like you are, either?

the boredom is a pointer, really, to some of the "work" you'll need to do.

Would one drink hurt on the weekend?

My alcoholic mind tells me it won't. But the healthy part of me knows that it will.

One drink might not hurt, but all the subsequent drinks would hurt. And since one drink usually leads to more drinks, I would probably tell you to avoid that first drink.

You think ONE drink is going to solve that? If you are going to resort to alcohol to cure your boredom, then lets be honest one drink wont even begin to suffice...deep down you want to get hammered.

You'll have to find other things to occupy your time. If you find things that you love to do, you'll soon find you have no time for drinking, let alone obsessing about it.

Congratulations on your 2 weeks sober. Some drunks will never see that. Sounds cheesy but true.

If one is alcoholic?
Better to be bored sober
than running with the liquid devil.
