Because I am done punishing myself for other people's mistakes.

Mountainmanbob 10-27-2016 04:44 PM

Because it's hard enough for me to stay focused today.
If I was drinking I would be in la la land.
A place that I wish to not revisit.

Because I don't want to throw it all away...

Me either I've never been sober this long and I've seen many many go back out and only a few return Bob

Because I finally love and respect myself enough

ThatWasTheOldMe 10-28-2016 03:11 PM

Because I only get one liver.

Number 1 reason today that I don't drink.

Is because my wife is away with her girlfriends for the weekend.
I want to be a good boy while she is gone.
Mix in a little booze and it would = a not very good boy.
In my case to say the least.

I love staying sober to take good care of my dogs and cats. :)

The reason I'm not drinking today is.
Because it's a gloomy day and I'm feeling just a little bit out of it.
If I was drinking I would feel (real) out of it.
Plus, the wife would run away from home tonight.

Because I am worthy of having a sober life.

Mountainmanbob 11-02-2016 09:57 PM

Another reason to stay sober.

Because we need to be here so as to support the new ones to sobriety and to be here for the ones returning. There will be plenty.

Same reason as yesterday.
I prefer to live in reality and to avoid ER visits.

kevlarsjal 11-03-2016 02:26 PM

Cause I have to learn how to live sober. Can't do that when I'm drunk

Bubovski 11-03-2016 02:31 PM

I am approaching four years here on SR and despite not a perfect record over this time have made substantial improvement, with no serious mal events.
I drank for decades with the misery ratio by far the winner. The people on SR are very supportive, and along with a spiritual outlook, positive assertions, and meditation I'm really in for the long haul . Things can only get better providing I hold my ground.

There are just so many more things to do when sober.

True so many issues can arise and a slip can turn unto a catastrophy.
We need to be ever vigilant!

#1 reason

In these later retirement years of life, staying out of trouble is a big thing.

The #1 reason that I stay sober is because drinking has ruined my life and not done anything positive for my friends or family.

Mountainmanbob 11-15-2016 05:51 AM

I'm staying sober today because
I need a driver's license so as to legally drive down off this mountain.

The #1 reason that I stay sober today is ?

Many that I know have recently went back out only to be in short time suffering once again and a family member yesterday died from an overdose.

What the heck ?
