Back to the same old crap

Today is October 12. I had been doing really good for a long time then like a week ago something snapped inside me one day out of the blue and i drank. Been drinking for like a week. Sucks but true. I am having trouble concentrating on watching tv. All i do is sit around on these forums ( I AM ALSO IN MENTAL HEALTH FORUMS) and wait for the hours to pass by till i think it is a reasonable time to go get my wine. My daughter is staying with her dad . She already saw me drunk the other day, This is a freaking nightmare, I need help

So, why don't you wait for the hours to pass by till you think it is a reasonable time to NOT go get your wine?

What can we do to help you do that?

Hi Violet,

We're here to help.

Do you have a plan for stopping drinking?

violetflame 10-12-2014 01:31 PM

Yes my plan is to stop tomorrow and drink today.

PurpleKnight 10-12-2014 01:38 PM

I was always stopping tomorrow, or after my birthday, or after Xmas, I put off not drinking for a year.

The best time to quit drinking is today, turn your life around today and make it happen.

Tomorrow you can have 24hrs Sober and be proud of that!! :)

And yet you are!
Look, you've said your plan is to drink tonight and stop tomorrow.
Fair enough.
But personally, I've had a thousand "I'll stop in the morning" moments.

Hanging on this site while trying not to go get your wine tomorrow would be a start.
I did it. I lived on this site and in the chatroom.
And I got through that.
I have walked around waiting for pubs and off-licences (liquor stores) to open.
It's a disgusting feeling.
Do yourself a favour and get out of that cycle.
It's not living, my friend.

Can I suggest you start a Day One thread tomorrow?
I did that on my last day one and the wonderful encouragement and feedback from fellow members was amazing.
Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow on your day one!

You did it before, you know that getting through the first few days is difficult, dig your heels in and get through day one, just this one day, 24 hours, not much time really.

Know in your heart that the cravings will pass, know how fabulous that you are going to feel in the morning, know how wonderful your sleep is going to be...

Tell the AV to get lost that you are in control of you and will not be drinking today. Keep telling your AV that.

Yeah it's tough Violet, we all know it and there is no shame in it. But it is a bit like a New Year's resolution no? Making plans on all the changes you will make and then not following through. Hopefully, tomorrow really is your day of reckoning.

We're looking forward to seeing you beat alcohol and joining us in our sober journey. This can be your time if you really want it to be.
