What colour eyes do you have?

Please see the poll above this :)

I was reading about a study that demonstrated that people with light-coloured eyes were more likely to abuse alcohol than people with dark coloured eyes.

I love stats, so I was wondering how this is reflected in SR?

Do you have dark or light coloured eyes?

Edit to add: This is purely posted out of curiosity. I'm not claiming that dark-eyed people won't abuse alcohol, or using eye colour as an excuse for drinking - half of my family has light coloured eyes, I'm the only one who couldn't figure out how to stop after a couple of drinks!

Interesting. Indeed.

Blue.

Used to be a nasty mix of bloodshot & blue - now just blue!

BennyHill 02-09-2013 05:45 PM

Green eyes for Benny!

Notsosober 02-09-2013 06:00 PM

...well lol I think we're on to something here

I have brown eyes and there is a history of alcoholism in my family. Don't always believe in the "addiction gene," but that is another poll!

Hevyn 02-09-2013 06:44 PM

green :)

sugarbear1 02-09-2013 06:59 PM

grey-green-blue they change

Ursula745 02-09-2013 07:08 PM

Sibling stats

My eyes are green and I am not an alcoholic. My Brothers eyes are brown and he is the A in my life. So, completely opposite of what the study shows. At least for now. I think anyone can be dependent on alcohol, including myself if I got that far...

HereIAm321 02-09-2013 07:29 PM

Dark blue/slate....

So I voted for light colored eyes, but they areeee dark...just not brown. :)

Notsosober 02-09-2013 07:51 PM

Obviously it's totally up to the person (regardless of eye color) but to pretend that there's no genetic predisposition to addiction is naive. Regarding this poll, there's two options - either we're getting some voter bias (by both light and dark eyed people) or there very well may be some correlation. Evolution has a funny way of making people have subtle differences that when given the proper circumstances can add up to something huge!

Interesting, I have hazel, and I have a daughter who's also an alcoholic (in my opinion) w/light blue eyes.

hamsammich 02-09-2013 10:01 PM

my eyes are green : )

peanut44 02-09-2013 11:10 PM

I have brown eyes and i don't drink.

My father's eyes were hazel the whole time i was growing up and about 3 years before he died they slowly turned from hazel to a super light blue. He was a major alcoholic.

It was weird.

I guess this is what we call "bad science".

Will they follow up with a paper on palmistry?

lambchop6 02-09-2013 11:12 PM

Brown:)

Grymt 02-10-2013 03:59 AM

smouldering, with golden flecks of mischief

tammy711 02-10-2013 05:23 AM

green, with dark perimeters, and a few rust flecks (I use to tell people I have rust spots in my eyes because I cried a lot as a child ;- )

I do believe it is not a very accurate study.

They obviously did not check out all the Native Americans who have brown eyes, lol
that are alcoholic. Alcoholism runs higher in the Native Americans than it does in
the general public, as high as 18 to 20% versus the 10% that many studies have
stated.

And yes, I am part Native American and I am an alcoholic who found recovery a fairly
long time ago.

I just do not believe that eye color has anything to do with becoming an addict.
