A year sober TODAY!!!!!
 

Happy New Year everyone!

Well, I have gone and bl**dy done it. One year sober today.

I am putting a link to my first thread on SR that I wrote january 1 2012.

My life is amillion times better... I am even back at university and at this moment in time finishing an essay on addiction (oh the irony!!!!)

To anyone reading this site and contemplating giving up, or maybe even scared about whether they can succeed..... just do it. Quitting alcohol has been the making of me.

And I am even off the smokes 6 months now, too :)

Also I love hearing people stories. It gives us so much hope that we can do it too!

I was the same when I started on here. Reading other people's success stories really egged me on. I am so far removed from that sad woman that wrote that initial thread on SR a year ago.

I am sitting on the same couch right now, but that is about the only thing that is the same - well, that and the desire to shift the few pounds from the Christmas excess :D :D

I just have to look at my life now to keep me on track. I am happy, feel great, am finalling pursuing life goals that I put off for over a decade. Why would I ever want to lose all that.

I have been tempted, but never enough to give up what I have now.

I think differently about things, I have learnt to love myself and I am making something of my life. Alcohol is gone, for good :)

I never needed it, and I am proving that :)
