Tell me something....

Tell me something about YOU that is not alcohol related.

I'll start, I love photography, and bicycling. For that last three years, I have ridden a century ride (100 miles in one shot). Takes me about 7 hours..

PurpleCat 12-22-2011 09:26 AM

I won a national gold medal in figure skating.

Mark75 12-22-2011 09:30 AM

Skiing... LOL ... Bicycling (Have done a few century rides in the last 20 years, did a couple of double century's though not lately) Hunting, Fishing and..... MUSIC, i love music.

FattyMcFatty 12-22-2011 09:35 AM

Double Century!! I can't imagine...

Mark75 12-22-2011 11:38 AM

The actual ride is relatively insane, of course, lololol... but the real bitch is training for it, finding the time and all... Those days are behind me, I just got done with a 20 mile ride, it's warm for December in these parts... I'd rather be on my skis, lol...

Jomey 12-22-2011 11:41 AM

I compete in rodeos and triathlons....admire you century guys....can't imagine that many hours on the bike...

nice thread, thanks!

PurpleCat 12-22-2011 11:53 AM

Skiing yes - lots of time on a bike? No. Triathletes are da bomb. Talk about being fit.

ainsley1 12-22-2011 12:03 PM

I have two little girls, ages 5 and 3.

I completed my first two sprint tri's this past summer. UGH, If they had a Super-Clydesdale class, I would have been in it. However, even at 275 I did not come in last. I crushed on the bike...

I hang sheetrock.:whoop

tomdecel 12-22-2011 12:25 PM

You guys are speaking my language.....The 3 centuries I did in 2011 on my bike were a blast, but not as much fun as all the 70 to 80 mile training rides I did in preparation for them. 2012, I'm signed up already for a 100 miler in mid Feb and another one at the end of April.

raqbord 12-22-2011 12:28 PM

I started listening to Country music 2 years ago and I LOVE IT! I am 42 and never thought I would have children. I have a 10 month old son. God waited until I found the right man/father/husband. I have a lot to be thankful for.

soberjim 12-22-2011 12:29 PM

I have 2 greyhounds. They are awesome dogs!

Hardwired..Congratulations..Thats excellent. Being a parent (I have a 20 year old) is an wonderful thing.

Bikeguy 12-22-2011 12:51 PM

I too love to ride my bicycle, 4 centuries for me last year and my one and only double century was 2 years ago. I pretty much love anything to do with the outdoors, riding bike, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting I enjoy it all.

FattyMcFatty 12-22-2011 01:32 PM

I'm thinking of doing the Alamonzo 100. It's a ride in Minnesota that is 100 miles, all gravel (Dirt roads) and self supported. I just bought a cyclocross bike that would be perfect.

Muunray 12-22-2011 01:48 PM

I like mmorpgs...and looking for the next best one!

Bikeguy 12-22-2011 01:50 PM

I have some friends that have done the Alamonzo 100, it sounds like a great race/ride. I'm more about riding than racing anymore but still I like to participate in our local time trials every now and then.

SoberRightNow 12-22-2011 01:57 PM

I once sold central heating oil to Rick Wakeman.

Sally1009 12-22-2011 02:04 PM

I dont do sport, but I love swimming in the sea, and walking on our local cliff tops in Cornwall. I like reading, writing, drawing and painting, theatre and comedy. I would like gardening if i wasn't so bad at it!

Sally1009 12-22-2011 02:08 PM

Ps I'm also interested in debate, philosophy and psychology and animals.

Way to go!!!!! I started with sprints in the Athena group....and kinda lived thru the bike to swim and run....now doing Olympic distance in age group (tri training takes the weight right off ya!) and loving the bike as much if not more than the run!!!! You should be way proud of yourself....the first tri is a major accomplishment....after that, you are a certified glutton for punishment and an amazing athlete!!!! :)

tomdecel 12-22-2011 02:37 PM

Not to hijack your thread FmcF, but we have a daily support thread on the other side of SR for folks that believe that fitness, health and nutrition goes hand in hand with sobriety.

I've tried that "do it yourself" and it is freaking hard!

I have 2 Rottweilers.

WakeUp 12-22-2011 04:12 PM

I like hiking, mountain bike riding (as long as it's pretty vanilla), have two cats, earned a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award in Toastmasters, and write a spirituality blog. When I'm starved for excersise in the late winter, I put on my poser-logger-wear and do some trail maintenance.
That's just for starters. ;)
