Tell Me ..."NO"
 

Havent had a drink since June 1 09 was doing good, until my sweet Mom died a week ago. I have resisted the urge to drink away the pain, oh God such pain!! In the past I wouldve flown to the store ASAP and start a binge lasting till $ ran out but Ive alienated too many people---rest of family---and I just didnt want to start that cycle up again. I know Id wind up in the hosp for sure. Nothing to do but sit here with this unrelenting powerful hurt, aloneness, shock. It would be too easy the store is right up the street. If only to drown these feelings. Im being pulled apart here .

Dingleberry - I am so sorry for your loss. It must be very difficult for you, but just remember that drinking doesn't help you grieve or deal with the pain - all it does is postpone the pain and make other things worse in the process.

You are not alone. Focus on not drinking today. Remember how good it feels to not drink.

Then, read SR, read the Big Book, call the AA hotline, go to an AA meeting, go out for a run -- do anything and everything you can to not drink today.

Keep writing posts. You will be suppported.

I m also sorry for your loss and agree that drinking will only make things worse tomorrow. Isn't it a blessing that your mum got to see you sober? She would not want you to stop now.:praying

its been a hard three months for me also

i stopped drinking on the 3rd of june 09

just in time for the things that have happened to me and my loved ones i would o been dead if i had not stopped drinking

I am so sorry to hear that your Mother has passed on. Please know that she is now completely pain free & with past family & friends that have passed and that you will be reunited on the day of your passing (my belief).

Please stay sober in honor of your mother, its the last thing she would want you to do because of her passing. I lost my mother years ago & still have moments of weakness when I think of her, I do my best to switch gears & think of all of the fond memories I have of her.

Keep yourself busy & spend time with family/friends and be careful not to alienate yourself.

I too am sorry for the loss of your mother. And yes, drinking would just make it worse. Stay sober and that will be one less pain you'll have to feel.
