OT - Need help with wallpaper!

For those of you that may recall, I have been putting off doing some remodeling on this house.
Well, today I finally decided to attack my bedroom. I pulled the wallpaper off (with some water and fabric softener, which works great, by the way) however - underneath I got a surprise! (cry)
Apparently, from what I can tell, a previous owner of the house had applied wallpaper to the drywall and had not primered the drywall first. It then looks as though someone started to remove the wallpaper, realized the problem, and therefore, just wallpapered over it!

I truly did not want to wallpaper the bedroom. At this point, I'm debating....

1) Trying to remove the wallpaper as best as I can and possibly having to repair a few dings that I make in the drywall

2) Leaving the old wallpaper that is adhered to the drywall and doing a faux-type rolling paint job as to where it will help conceal the wallpaper underneath.

3) Or if any of you have any wonderful ideas as to how to remove this wallpaper easier.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
