Excellent way to make a very good point.
To me 'moderation' is sort of like substituting one drug for another. The point is to get alcohol out of the picture ie don't drink period.
I read an article on video game addiction which is an issue of it's own and said unless the user/player can put the controller down at anytime they're probably addicted. If the alcoholic really wanted to quit or change they would find it in them to quit and avoid alcohol even in the presence of others drinking. Until they can let go, walk away or ignore alcohol there won't be a true change.
