working out didn’t help for me…. CrossFit helped me fool myself into it being OK to drink. After all, I was hitting the gym hard and MAN, was I in shape!! I deserved the ‘reward’.

Then by Sunday I was self loathing and by Monday I was anxious and miserable and back to swearing THIS time for sure I was gonna quit.

me, I had to stop quitting and start starting.

the nice thing was once I shifted my focus from ‘stop drinking’ to ‘start recovering’ - there were a bunch of positive actions I could commit to. I could still work out, but I’d also work the steps, go to a meeting every day, read the Big Book, listen to recovery podcasts, mod long-neglected chores, pay a few bills…..

maybe you could find progress in quitting ‘quitting’ and instead start recovering!
