Still here!
Just checking in. 760 days strong. Sometimes I feel like I “woke up” from a 15-year fever dream… and now I’m still learning who I am sober. But I’ve never been sharper, more motivated, healthier or happier. There are still days where I discover new things about myself — realizing just how much of my drinking was to silence a near-constant boiling anxiety and inability to face or experience emotional pain. Now I stare it down, experience it, and let it wash over me — I certainly don’t need poison to combat it (and exacerbate it).
I’m so damn proud of myself. Giving up alcohol was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
How are you all? Always good to be back here. Stay strong, friends. It took me eleven years posting here for it to finally click. Hang in there.
