We have old friends who are drinkers. It really has little impact on me to be around them, other than thinking about how ridiculous it seems now to incorporate alcohol into all facets of life. There was a birthday party at their house last weekend. The darn whipped cream on the cake was homemade and tasted like straight rum. I quickly made a pot of very strong coffee because that taste was even in my sinuses. They have been good friends for a long time, and are respectful people, but I'm taking it as a lesson that you can't take anything for granted around drinkers.
