DQ realizing John Quincy Adams, the US 6th president, was highly spiritual and intellectual! Possibly the most of any US president! This is what he wrote about himself 3 days before he died in a letter to Thomas Jefferson:
John Quincy Adams is well! But the house which he lives at the present time is being delapidated! It’s tottering on its foundations! Time and seasons have nearly destroyed it! It’s roof is pretty worn out! It’s walls are much shattered and trembled with every wind! I think John Quincy Adams will have to move out of it soon! But he himself is quite well!
