It's the madness of alcoholic anxiety. I also tend to catastrophize. I'm 67 now and rarely see a doc, but when I was in the midst of my worst drinking in my 40's, I was always worried about one thing or another and the doc finally asked me if I was drinking too much, simply based on all my fear, anxiety, and imagined symptoms. Turns out I was fine and I suspect you will be too. The secret is to lay off the booze - it really does increase the anxiety levels.
