I think DriGuy covered that very well. Once I had gotten to the blackout stage I was well into a very big alcohol problem. I suspect you may have the same issue. Cutting back is not the solution. Complete abstinence is.
I would also add to not spend any time trying to fix your mom. Has she joined this site, too? I hope that's what you meant by looking for support for both. She's going to have to tackle her own addiction. You have bigger fish to fry right now.
