12 weeks ago today

12 weeks ago today I got really drunk, no different to the days, weeks, months and years before. I was STUCK. I thought I couldn't make a change. I'd tried before so many times, and each time I'd been earnest in my attempts. I'd thought, 'This time is it it' but still two weeks later I'd been drunk, so I thought it was impossible to get sober for any meaningful period.

The only thing that made me keep trying was people on this site that had been where I was, some of whom had tried multiple times and battled hard with the addiction like I was. But these people HAD made it stick. They were sober, some of them for many years, so I forced myself to read what they were saying and to act on it. If those Hopeless drunks could get sober then I so could I.

I don't feel stuck anymore. My emotions go up
and down and my life sucks a bit. But I'm learning to be able to get through each day sober. I've got two secrets to tell you about that:

1) I've got the personal skills to do that. Who'd have thought?!
2) I quite enjoy it!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone single person who posts on here. This isn't over for me, I'm only at the start to something quite exciting.

And if you're feeling STUCK or hopeless then read posts from the LTS (long term sobers) who were exactly where you were. Their knowledge is so valuable, for me I didn't know what to do and so being told was everything

It is possible
