Last night I had to write a statement which explains my past. Basically, I’m upgrading a license and had to answer a question honestly that reveals some of my less-than-stellar actions. I wrote about my substance addiction, how I faced homelessness, unemployment, and incarceration. Then I wrote about how I found a life of sobriety, shared that sobriety with others, and am currently approaching graduation with a major in Christian ministry. I was called to help people and my past allows me to know some of the darker sides of life and allow me to help others who face similar circumstances.

i don’t think about my story often anymore and sometimes I forget how far I’ve come. Sometimes I forget just how blessed to be where I am today instead of where I could have gone. For that I am great full and I for 24 more.
