Stable, unfortunately us alcoholics cannot relax with a couple of glass of alcohol. It just doesn't work that way.
If you're looking for suggestions, I would say stop drinking right now. Forget about the Christmas party and there's no need to wait for the New Year to begin your sobriety. Why not ring in 2020 as someone who has one month of sobriety?
