Father’s Day is in June in the UK 🙂

This reply isn’t in the spirit of the thread, but it’s in the spirit of the forum. My father died recently. He was 87 and died peacefully at home, so I’m reasonably happy about that. But whilst I’m sad he’s gone, I’m happy, and he’d be happy too, that it didn’t cross my mind to have a drink to “help”. I gave up eight months ago and had felt like a drink in stressful times during the first weeks, but it seems my body and mind don’t need alcohol any more.

My dad drank one small glass of whisky a day, which is certainly fine. He was a genuine moderate drinker, so I don’t know where I got my habit from! He didn’t know I was alcohol dependent, but I’m sure he’d be glad I quit 😀

The message is I guess to quit when times are good. When hard times come, it’ll be way easier without booze.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit. Happy Father’s Day all 😀
