Caprice-If the retired fellow in your building is looking forward to things in the future, I think he will be fine. As someone who is getting close to retirement, it can be depressing to start thinking about all the things that are going away, and not coming back. Throw in the swings of a mental state from stopping drinking and it can seem and actually be pretty bad. Having those goals in the future is a way of coping.
