This is why I the idea of alcoholism along a spectrum seems so reasonable to me. Give me more time and less luck and I’d have stories too. As it is, most of my drinking was secret so no one knew.
I was being assessed by the nurse during my last physical before I quit. When she got to the lifestyle questions, she said, “Alcohol use?”, looked me up and down, laughed, and said, “You don’t drink. You’re too healthy.”
I was averaging a couple of bottles of wine a night, and was desperate to quit.
