I used to go to Columbus about once every month or two for work... I have felt the extremes of Summer and Winter.
Chicago has extremes too... but it can get colder and gets hot and humid a lot less often... and a 12 inch or more snowstorm is not uncommon.
For me, it is "Southern Climate or Bust" within the next couple of years.
