I also booked a long weekend to go see my mom. She is going to need some help with insurance, and also some cheering up. I am leaving in Thursday evening Sept 28 and coming back Monday October 2nd. I will take two vacation days, and I won't miss too many kid activities since my oldest doesn't have a Meet, and my middle kiddo just has rehearsal, no shows. My husband will need to figure out practices, and how to get my little guy to soccer.
My mom's birthday is the 6th of October, so it will be an early birthday surprise. The nice thing about not needing to frantically get on a plane, I was able to find a round trip nonstop flight in JetBlue for 306 after taxes, and then 163 for the car rental for the four days. That is how much my one way flight cost last time.

I am going to try to fly home a few times a year, the next time I am going to shoot for thanksgiving break with the kids.
