I cannot believe Tom Waits is sober! Are you sure??
He was one of my favourites during my heavy drinking late 20s. I have been afraid to listen to his music since quitting because I thought it would set off some rampant craving.....kind of changes things to think that even he has kicked the booze. Wow.
I have been keeping busy. Met up with a friend and told her about my attempt to quit. It was great to say it to her (we are close friends of 20 years and used to drink together at all the music festivals etc.). It really helped to tell her....this sober journey can be so lonely. I underestimated how important connecting with others is in overcoming addiction. I had read it here but I didn't really appreciate the power of sharing one's experience both here on SR and in life generally.
I don't feel like its such a struggle today. Really did not want to drink.
