Not so much for the AA dogma, the clichés or the 'quotes from the big book', but for the human connection and learning patience, respect and empathy for others through listening. It is also a way - to myself and others to show I am committed to my recovery- with measured action...proof.
It was open to both genders but was all male as is usually their normal crowd there . I am with you in the sense I'm not one for the cliches and quotes nor their traditions and prayers personally but I am all for the empathy and understanding of human to human and experiences shared. Individualization and motivation of commitment are what I think will help me personally in a program like aa.
