IDK - I don't really agree with the use of "allergy" in relation to a person's alcoholism. I think that is the same as when we try to compare addiction to cancer or diabetes. It's too subjective because it isn't backed up by any kind of science at all:

His take on the F&F side of things left much to be desired in MY opinion, based on MY experiences dealing with countless addicts of all types in all stages.

If you read over in the Alcoholism & Newcomer's forums you'll find that this allergy reference has come up a few times there as well (as it is referenced in the BB) and many members there share a similar opinion - as an analogy, ok, I can see using the allergy reference to illustrate some points. But that analogy only ever represents one "piece" of the recovery puzzle.
