I don't think it's ever too late to change - I've done more in the last 9 years sober than I did in the previous 20, drunk...
I started as a binger and ended up an all day everyday drinker, but with the help of the community I was able to turn things around.

with AA - if you saw people there you knew wouldn't they be there for the same reason as you?
