She was detoxing in a medical facility, but had decided to go on one "last hurrah" prior to the detox and was literally pounding vodka to the tune of at least a 1/4 a gallon a day. Her heart had become so weakened due to the chronic abuse of her body that she simply could not recover.

I really didn't know her at all other than seeing her at one meeting and one group dinner afterwards so it really isn't my loss. It's more of a cautionary tale I wanted to share to newcomers. I know when I was a newcomer stories like this made me sit up and take notice that I needed get this drinking problem behind me or else something catastrophic was going to happen to me or someone else in my path. I am full of gratitude today that I was able to figure this out.
