The Field (1990) - IMDb). It is actually one of my favourite films.

I saw an interesting documentary about the colourful life of my namesake the other evening. He was invited over to the states by Jackie Gleeson and socialised with writers such as Norman Mailer. He was eventually marginalised in New York due to his alcoholism. Died at 41 years.
