I would have the dry heaves most mornings after heavy drinking. And yes, I was sometimes able to hold them off until no one was around. Sometimes I was able. Not always.
These dry heaves were one of about 100 signs that it was time to quit drinking.
FWIW, with some prolonged sober time, the dry heaves have stopped. Completely. I wish the same for you.
