Good going not combining antidepressant with alcohol...I don't want to assume what's going on in your case, but personally I needed to stop self-medicating with alcohol. The underlying issues needed to be addressed as best as possible. Those issues don't go away over night...so be patient. The Cymbalta needs time to take full effect. I had a co-worker once who stated Cymbalta was the only antidepressant that worked for her...it's known to be one of the better ones, but is also a bit more expensive, if your insurance does not cover it.
