I got a chance to interact with my ex-husband who is fresh from a stint in prison. He was already stoned out of his mind and talking about joining a traveling circus (they hire felons). It was the same old crap.
There are some people out there that are simply unreachable, for a myriad of reasons. They're the kind of people who shortly after their release from prison get back on the road that led them there to begin with. And you recognize this:
The truest love I could have shown would have been to just let him be. And in that vain, I say goodbye, not in anger or longing but in complete and full realization of the entire situation.
This is an incredibly difficult thing to do. And yet, you're doing it.
