Plenty of AA members would be HAPPY to offer him a ride if he went to a meeting and said he needed one. It's part of their 12th-Step work (carrying the message). Plus it would give him personal connections to some of those people.
If he needs a ride to his first meeting he just needs to call the AA Intergroup (or whatever they call it there--the main local number) and say so. More than likely they will send someone to come get him.
