As regular User of Teflon Tape in various Plumbing Escapades, I found that completely wrapping myself in it keeps various bad things at bay.
My Teflon tape experience usually goes like this:
1. Buy 20 ft of Teflon tape
2. Use 6 inches of it on the current project
3. Put it where I know I'll never forget
4. Wait 8 months before I need it again
5. Search for it for 90 minutes
6. Start over at step 1
Somewhere in this house there are at least 6 rolls of barely used Teflon tape.
