Chiquen, it was quite an epiphany to me when I got sober and learned that the entire world doesn't commence heavy drinking every time the sun went down.

There is a whole world of engaging, fun people who don't drink, but who still manage to go out to nice restaurants, movies, plays, concerts, sporting events, baz mitsvahs, etc. but who do not drink.

As Flynbuy points out, many of the people I do socialize with used to have to do all of these things, and pretty much else, under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

I tend to have a bond with these kind of people which surpasses other commonalities I share with others (e.g. from my religious faith, my line of work, etc.).

I asked for help with my drinking problem to save my career, not to have fun, but getting sober sure has given me the chance to truly enjoy life.

There is a new joi de vivre that is hard to describe.

I hope you get and stay sober and that you hang around here and let us know how you are doing.
