The Journey To Myself

MY JOURNEY TO MYSELF
By; Khadra Mohammed
March 30, 2015

When we are all born, we are assigned a seat in the life’s train. Some of us are handed lots of luggage, containing all we could need on our journey of life, and some of us could barely scrape the fare for the trip. As our train of life departs with a loud “Chow –Chow” we are all reminded that we started our journey from the same station. All of us full of hope, dreams, and set goals to reach our destination. Our train makes many stops, some are anticipated, some are not, call it life’s experience. Some of us missed the train, some of us get off at the wrong station, and some of us depart from their original destination as enduring the hard journey becomes and we simply give up. One of my life’s unanticipated stops was at a rehab called Glenbeigh. I stepped out of the train with a heavy heart, fogged brain, and unclear vision, but just as unanticipated my train stop was, I met, befriended, and fell in love with many people. I can’t call them angels, but I sure can call them my saviors. I am back on the train. My heart is full like the amazon forest. My mind is clear as the mighty Mississippi river, and my vision as clear as the bright sunshine. My name is Khadra Mohammed, and I am an alcoholic.
