I wanted to quote this statement that I bolded above.

One thing I know for sure: No one else's sobriety has anything at all to do with me. That's their disease speaking. I am not God and I have no control over what others do - be that good or bad. If someone is going to drink it is not my fault and if they decide to stay sober, that is not to my credit. I don't have that kind of power that my very presence can influence someone to drink or not.

One of the really good things learned in AA is to "stay in your own hula hoop" - meaning, work on you. What other people think and do is not your problem. They have their life and you have yours. Stick with the things you can control - you and your reactions.
